IstanPOOL is a brand new collective of musicians from Turkey and the Netherlands in a setting of two wind instruments, two guitars and two laptops: Michael Moore & Mark Alban Lotz (winds), Korhan Erel & Robert van Heumen (laptops, live processing), Şevket Akıncı & Giray Gürkal (guitars, effects). The project is conceptualized and organized by Utrecht-based flutist Mark Alban Lotz and Istanbul-based computer musician Korhan Erel. Initial concerts happened in Istanbul and Utrecht between 2010-2013 in form of Lotz/Erel duo with guest musicians. Mark Alban Lotz has a collaborative album with Islak Köpek, whose members include the three Turkish musicians here, which was released on Evil Rabbit Records in 2011.
Audrey Chen (cello), Korhan Erel (computer, controllers) and Giray Gürkal (electric guitar, effects) will play an improvised set at BOEHMERSExhibition, Berlin on September 27, only a few hours before Korhan and Giray get on their train to Amsterdam to launch their five-concert tour there with IstanPOOL and Stichting dOEk musicians . Concert will start at 20.00.
